Confession Statements Reveal Alleged Payment of R100,000 for Senzo Meyiwa Hit

 In a startling development at the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria, two of the five accused individuals implicated in the murder of Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa confessed to police that they were allegedly paid a substantial sum of R100,000 to carry out the hit. This revelation emerged as the court heard their confession statements, which were ruled admissible by Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng after a lengthy trial within a trial lasting five months.

The confessions of accused number two, Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, and accused number one, Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, shed light on the alleged financial incentives behind Meyiwa’s tragic killing. Ntanzi admitted to receiving R45,000 for his role, while Sibiya claimed to have been paid R30,000. Shockingly, the hit was allegedly ordered by singer Kelly Khumalo, who shares a child with Meyiwa, at her Vosloorus residence where the fatal shooting occurred.

During proceedings, Lieutenant Colonel Solomon Raphadu, the justice of the peace officer who recorded Ntanzi’s confession on June 19, 2020, testified and read out the statement in court. The confession statements, previously contested by the accused who claimed coercion and assault, were deemed by Judge Mokgoatlheng to have been made freely and voluntarily.

This latest development marks a significant milestone in the ongoing trial, providing crucial insights into the alleged motives and orchestrators behind Meyiwa’s murder. As the court delves deeper into the evidence presented through these confession statements, the quest for justice for the slain football icon enters a critical phase, with the spotlight now firmly on the accused and their alleged accomplices.
