His character on SABC’s hit show Uzalo has won many viewers across the country. Khaya Dladla has come a long way to become one of the most loved characters on TV. Check out these 6 facts you didn’t know about Uzalo’s GC.

1. Khaya has been in the entertainment industry for almost eighteen years. He started off in theatre at Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre on the UKZN Durban ­campus that’s when he became ­interested in acting.

2. Despite having so many years under his belt, Uzalo is his first TV show. The 27 year old has won the Simon Mabhunu Sabela Best Supporting Actor Award for his Uzalo role.

3. He’s worked alongside industry greats including Mbongeni ­Ngema, Edmond Mhlongo, Bheki Mkhwane and Duma Ndlovu.

4. Khaya has worked at the Playhouse in Durban, the Market Theatre in Joburg and at other big theatres in South Africa. He has also traveled to Italy, Germany and New York with various shows.

5. He studied advertising and marketing, and holds a degree in communication science.

6. Khaya is also a great singer having served as a backing vocalist for artists including Mbongeni, Hugh Masikela, Thandiswa Mazwai and Salif Keita.
